UPSC Civil Services Exam is divide din “TWO” parts that is Prelims and Mains followed by the interview.

Procedure of Selection:

Applicants will be selected for the post on the basis of the following tests:

  1. Preliminary exam.
  2. Mains exam.
  3. Interview.

This section consist two papers:

  1. General Studies.
  2. General Ability/Aptitude.

UPSC Exam Pattern for Preliminary Exam:

  1. In prelim exam there are “Two” mandatory papers.
  2. Exam of Civil Services Prelims is 200 marks.

Important Points:

Both Question Paper Format Objective type (multiple choice questions).
Exam Duration Two Hours each.
Question Paper Languages Will be set both in Hindi and English.
Topics Asked In Paper Related to English Language Comprehension skills would be provided only in English.
Time Relaxation For Blind Applicants Allowed 20 minutes extra of time   at each paper.

Main written exam covers following papers:

Paper-I:

Section 1 Essay 200 Marks.
Section 2 English Comprehension & English Précis.
Maximum Marks 100 Marks (The level of paper would be on Class 10th level.

Paper-II:

General Studies I Maximum Marks 250 (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society).

Paper-III:

General Studies II Maximum Marks 250 (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations).

Paper-IV:

General Studies III Maximum Marks 250 (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management).

Paper-V:

General Studies IV Maximum Marks 250 (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude).

Paper-VI:

Optional Subject – Paper 1 Maximum Marks 250.

Paper-VII:

Optional Subject – Paper 2  Maximum Marks 250.

Maximum marks for written test 1800 Marks.
